As the profession of pharmacy was developing in the country in 1960s, there was a demand forthe qualified pharmacists, in order to furnish the needs of the profession of pharmacy, a shortversion of pharmacy program namely Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) was developed.D.Pharma or Diploma in Pharmacy is an undergraduate Diploma course in the medical field ofPharmacy. Pharmacy is a medical field involved in the preparation, dispensing and appropriateuse of medication meant for therapeutic purposes. Also pharmaceutical manufacturingcompanies require diploma/ pharmacy graduates for production and marketing of drugs. Thecourses provide the minimum qualification to become a registered Pharmacist in India. Theminimum qualification for D.Pharm course is Intermediate examination passed in Science stream(PCB/PCM). After DPharm, the students can pursue higher studies in Pharmacy by taken directadmission in B.Pharm IInd Year.
